Archive for January, 2009

It certainly has been a whirlwind year! I’ve been so blessed to have so many absolutely amazing clients, brides and grooms that shared their wedding day with me, families that wanted to capture a special moment and lots of beautiful children that made me laugh! I put together a little slideshow of some of my favorites from 2008 – I hope you enjoy it!

Jana Kunz: They are all so beautiful!

Carley Mac: oooh this is neat :) gorgeous work

Kimmi: Gorgeous work... looks like you had a wonderful 2008.... here's to an even better 2009. :)

Karen: Kin - You put so much of yourself into your work - and these pictures show just how much you LOVE it! They're more than amazing - can't wait to see what 2009 has in store!

Thank you…

I’ve received so many well wishes and prayers for my sister – thank you! She came out of surgery just fine and is doing a little better. They said it was a pretty bad break and right now she’s still in the hospital and is learning to move it and trying to keep the pain controlled. Please keep her in your prayers that she starts to feel better soon!

While I’m waiting…

Kellie’s in surgery right now, so to keep my mind off it, I thought I’d post one of my favorite images from the past few days. This was totally unscripted – I saw her sitting there playing with the dollhouse and the light was streaming in so I grabbed my camera. Love this one – such a sweet moment in a little girl’s childhood.

lauri: I love this image! It's extraordinary! Hope your little sister recovers quickly. That has to be frightening.

Jennifer: Awww- it's perfect!

Jana Kunz: I love this image, it is so beautiful!

Kimmi: Gorgeous image and I hope your sis has a easy and quick recovery.

stacy s: aww, love the image-it is stunning! best wishes for your sister too for a fast recovery!

Martha: Wishing your sister well... And what a gorgeous shot you have shared...

Jane Eaton Hamilton: I hope your sis recovers. This is just a stunning image, and it does capture a wonderfully private moment.

Lori: What dreamy light!

Please say a prayer…

My little sister Kellie was in an accident last night and is in the hospital in traction with a broken femur. Right now details are sketchy but it sounds like she will be going in for surgery Tuesday or Wed and will be in the hospital for a while. Please say a quick prayer that she’s not in pain and that she has a good recovery! Thank you!

Michelle: I'm so very sorry, what a nightmare! Sending my best prayers your family's way. Modern medicine really can work miracles, and definitely will for your sister. {{}}

Jana Kunz: I am so sorry to hear that. I hope she has a speedy recovery!

Carley Mac: ((hugs)) im so sorry. ill keep your sister and your family in my thoughts and prayers

admin: Thank you! She's in surgery right now, I'm just waiting for an update. Hopefully we'll get some good news!

Happy 2nd Birthday CJ!

January 16, 2009

Our nephew just turned 2 year old! So of course I was there with my camera! Isn’t he adorable? (These were all taken with my Canon 5d MarkII, which was amazing for on location low light!)

When we first got there Colin and CJ went out for a ride in CJ’s new Jeep. They had a blast driving up and down the street!

Then the party began and the kids had a blast! Especially during the cake…

(On a side note, this was taken with only the candles to light his face – at ISO 25,600! Incredible!)

The candles were the type that relight by themselves, so the kids all got to help CJ blow them out when they relit. This shot cracks me up! See how Colin pushed his way to the front? He was pretty darn excited about that cake!

And one of my favorites from the next day – I love how vintage this feels:

Kimmi: Wow.... you rocked that 5Dii.... Love the birthday cake images..... Very nice and I love your black and whites too. :)

Jennifer: WOW I want that camera. These are great! I love the cake images too!

lauri: happy birthday cj! Great job on documenting it!

The “old” 5d…

January 11, 2009

I have to admit, since I got the “new” 5d markII, my “old” 5d has been sitting sadly in it’s bag. I do feel bad for it – after all, it was there with me through the start of my business and has never let me down. But the features on the 5dii are so nice, that I just haven’t felt compelled to pick up the 5d. But then I come across pictures like this (this one was taken in December 2008) and I remember why I love it…

I took this image with the 5d, 135L combo. What is it about full frame that just makes the image so dreamy? Yumm… So while my 5dii is my camera of choice atm (and I promise – reviews coming soon!) I can’t forget how amazing the 5d is.

monyeen: LOOK how grown up she looks. I love my 135L on the 5d too!

Kristin Rachelle: I cannot wait to get my 5D. This is a gorgeous image!!

Shellie: one word, INCREDIBLE!

TaraMc: Congratulations on the new camera. This image is stunning! I agree, the 5d is amazing, but it takes a fantastic photographer to work it like you do.

jennifer: this is absolutely beautiful, nice crop and clariety!

Martha: I love it too -- very soulful and beautiful.

LauraB: STUNNING image. I would love this of my own!

Kim: Thank you! :)
