It’s been a while!

April 7, 2009

Ok, so I had been doing really well with blogging and then life got in the way. It’s been really busy around here – lots of commercial work and of course, life with 3 kids. But hopefully now that things have slowed down a tiny bit, I can get back into the blogging groove.

Last week we took Colin to Walt Disney World and had a wonderful time! Of course Drew and I are exhausted (Disney isn’t exactly a relaxing vacation) but it was fun! The girls stayed home with their grandparents since it would have been nearly impossible to keep up with 3 kids 4 and under at the parks. Colin loved every minute (and when asked what his favorite part was, he replied “everything!”) We were ready to get home, that’s for sure!

Silly me, I had brought along my XTi and 18-55is lens (that’s the kit I use for family shots, camping, vacations and such when I don’t want to take the chance bringing my pro lenses/cameras). But I forgot to bring a 2nd battery or charger (they were left in my camera bag by the front door, which I took out of the suitcase right before we left to try to conserve a little space.) Arrgg! So I relied mostly on my little point-and-shoot (a canon A720) most of the time. The XTi did come out for the character meals, but it eats through batteries like crazy, so I couldn’t use it much. Bummer – there were so many wonderful things I would have liked to capture! Thank goodness I had a back-up p&s though!

Anyway, here’s a few of our favorites from the trip…

And my absolute favorite… I call it Giggles since he had a hysterical case of them while waiting for the bus to the Magic Kingdom. I just love it! Pure little boy excitement!

I love how your kids are growing up! My favorite is the giggles too. So was it hard to use the xTI after your really nice camera? Which by the way I am really jealous of your new one!

    Thanks Carley!

Hi Theresa! Good to see you!! I love having the little XTi for family outings – vacations, camping, around the house. Times where I just want memories for our scrapbook. The images it produces are still beautiful (and I printed a few 16×20 canvases for my mother-in-law last year using images from the XTi and they were gorgeous!) I just pop on the 50mm 1.4 and know that I’m all set. I did pick up the 18-55IS recently too – it’s such a handy little lens to have and IQ isn’t bad at all! The only thing that does take some getting used to is the manual focal points. It’s a lot harder to change them on the XTi than on my pro cameras. But it’s also a lot smaller and I can take it places (like Disney) that I would never take my other cameras.
