3 months already! Wow! I’m sure I’ll say this every month, but bear with me. It’s going by much too fast. Can I tell them to slow down? Think they’ll listen? The boys are doing great. They’re growing fast and are really waking up to the world around them. Griffin wakes up every morning with huge smiles and has even giggled a few times. Kian is a bit more reserved, and hits his happy time in the afternoon. They are so sweet and really add so much to our family. When we first found out we’d have 5 kids, I was a bit scared since it seemed like such a huge number. But now it feels so right – like we all just fit together. I can’t imagine life without any of them. It’s definitely strange to think that the boys started out as a single being, and that if everything had happened any other way that there would be only one of them (but there would really have still been both of them – just in one body – strange, right?)

So now onto what you really want – the pictures.

Here’s their “official” 3 month shot (since I’ve been trying to keep the pictures all very similar in backdrop and tone so that at the end of the year we can see how much they’ve changed from month to month.)

This one made me laugh – Griffin was definitely wondering why I was torturing them! ;) And Kian was fascinated with his hand.

I am a photographer as well with 2 sets...no singletons...(I hope for 1 someday) I loved looking at your photography blog and your beautiful images!

Caitlyn’s One!

July 25, 2010

Drew’s brother and his family were up for a visit this weekend. We had wanted to get some pictures of the family while we were down visiting them a few weeks ago but it was just too busy. I’m so glad we got to take a few this morning. It was really for Caitlyn’s first birthday, but we got some family pictures too. Isn’t she a doll?

Don’t worry, she didn’t actually eat the wood! ;)

Love that little tooth!

My friend from high school just had her 2nd baby and wanted some newborn and family shots. So I squeezed them in (since newborns are only really in that great milk coma stage for 2 weeks before they wake up!) I was really looking forward to this session and couldn’t wait to meet little Zachary! He was such a well behaved little boy and slept for most of the 2nd half of the session. Thankfully the weather held out (I just read that we’re in a tornado watch right now – thank goodness that wasn’t 12 hours ago!) Kiely was just as cute as always and really loves her brother. She couldn’t wait to hold him and get some pictures with him.

Aren’t they adorable?

On a side note, this is my first session edited with my mac. I found a great deal on a refurbished on from apple (their refurb store is wonderful – I always shop there when I need any apple equipment.) So far I’m loving it. I got a 27″ screen, but didn’t really realize how large it would be until it was here on my table. Ummm… it’s huge. But the colors are beautiful and I love the OS. So far so good!

I can’t believe that little B is a big brother! His mom brought him to me last year for pictures when he was only a few months old. He was such a sweet little baby full of smiles. I was absolutely thrilled when his mom said she was expecting again – another beautiful boy for their family! Little E was born 6 days ago and is just as sweet as B. He slept for most of the session and was a perfect angel. I love newborns like this!

Newborn smiles are so special! Every time I see one I think of what one of our girls’ NICU nurses told us. When Teagan gave us her first smile, I ohhed and ahhed over it, but then said “of course it was probably just gas.” To which she replied “Do you smile when you have gas?” Ummm… notsomuch. So ever since then I’ve believed that newborn smiles are true smiles – and a sign of ultimate happiness for them.

He followed up the smile with this face – it made me laugh!

Little Brayden – isn’t he adorable? I just love his hair!

There’s nothing like a mama to get a baby to sleep!

The beautiful family all together!

Thank you for letting me photograph your beautiful family! I can’t wait to watch these boys grow up!

Could he get any cuter?

Kian @ 8 weeks

They make me laugh!

June 9, 2010

The boys are getting more and more alert every day and more of their personalities are coming out! So far Kian is a night owl and Griffin happily goes to sleep at 8pm. They are both loving their siblings and spend a lot of time just staring at the silly things the older kids do to keep them entertained. I keep telling them not to grow up too fast, but they certainly aren’t listening!

There’s nothing sweeter than a father snuggling with his baby. I haven’t gotten Drew to do pictures with the babies yet (it’s on my to-do list) but I thought this was a really cute image that I took last night.

I have a feeling the boys’ first year is going to fly by! I’m trying very hard to commemorate each month and so far am loving working with tiny babies! So many people call for sessions at 3 months or beyond, but those first few weeks are so precious – that’s what you really should be capturing! You know, those days when they sleep a lot, are so snuggly and have that squishy newborn look? Even now I’m amazed at how much the boys have changed and how much of that newborn look they have lost. Sure, they still are little and still love to snuggle, but now stick out their legs instead of curling them up, wake up when they are moved and are awake for a lot longer.

Here’s a few pictures from their first few days…

And their 1 month pictures…

You can see how much more awake and alert they are in the individual 1 month pictures than the newborn shots (taken at 5 days old). I absolutely love the picture of the boys with their umbilical stumps still on because they look fresh from the hospital (which they were!) That’s the beauty of a custom photographer over a studio – I come to you! I know those first few weeks can be tough enough to get through without worrying about traveling to get pictures done. So this way you can capture those precious first few days of life without leaving the house! All I need is a good source of light (a patio door or large window works great!)

We also found out that the boys are identical! What are the odds of that? The girls are fraternal (and VERY much fraternal – they look so different) so we were really shocked to get the results of the twin DNA test (they swab the inside of their cheeks and compare them.)

More of Miss Lily

August 1, 2009

I know I was a little bit of a tease yesterday, posting only one picture. And you know how much I love to post multiple pictures! It was one of those days where there was so much to do with so little time to do it in that not everything got done. But true to my word, I’m back today with more to share!

Little K

July 8, 2009

You may remember last October when we visited our good friend in the hospital who had just had her little girl (here’s the link if you haven’t seen them: http://www.prochazkaphotography.com/blog/?p=90) Well she’s now 9 months old and absolutely adorable! Her parents came up for a visit and while her big brothers stayed with Dad, her Mom and I took her into the studio for a few shots!

And this is my favorite shot. A little back story first. By now you’ve probably seen a few pictures of me with one of the kids on my back. It’s called a wrap (a big long piece of fabric that is very versatile and wonderful for carrying kids and keeping them close.) K’s mom is a wrapper too and just got her first woven wrap last week and is SO excited about it! So when we were taking pictures K had a meltdown and I suggested wrapping her up. I had been wanting to get some wrapping pictures (on someone other than me) for the longest time and was thrilled when K’s mom said “Sure!” So we wrapped K up and she was as happy as can be! This picture to me just speaks volumes about motherhood and wrapping. I love how soulful K looks, and how content her mom is, even though we can only see a little bit of her. K’s happy because she’s snuggled up next to Mommy, and Mom’s happy because her baby is happy. And really, who can resist a few baby snuggles?
