Caitlyn’s One!

July 25, 2010

Drew’s brother and his family were up for a visit this weekend. We had wanted to get some pictures of the family while we were down visiting them a few weeks ago but it was just too busy. I’m so glad we got to take a few this morning. It was really for Caitlyn’s first birthday, but we got some family pictures too. Isn’t she a doll?

Don’t worry, she didn’t actually eat the wood! ;)

Love that little tooth!

I can’t believe they are seniors already! That’s incredible! For those of you who don’t know, Kourtnie is my little sister. She was born when I was 14 (actually, she was born the day before my 14th birthday if one day matters). All of a sudden in the past few years she has grown into a beautiful young woman! She’s off to college in the fall and we’ll definitely miss her! But for now she’s still in high school and as a senior she and her boyfriend Evan went to the prom together.

Evan ~ Hancock Senior 2010

September 8, 2009

When Evan scheduled his senior session, the first words out of his mouth were “Can I bring my 4 wheeler for some pictures?” I absolutely love it when seniors bring along things that are important to them because it makes the session that much more fun. So I said “Sure!” and he brought it in the back of his truck. Guys are usually harder to photograph than girls, simply because they are usually not quite as comfortable in front of the camera. But Evan did great! I hope these capture him!

Melissa ~ Deposit Senior 2010

September 4, 2009

I’ve been so blessed this year; not only have my clients been beautiful, but they’ve also been so sweet and a joy to work with! Melissa called me a while back to schedule her senior session and we had a blast! It was a perfect day for it and she was so much fun (and her mom had us both laughing for most of the session!) And yes, I have a lot of pictures that show Melissa’s beautiful smile, but these are a few of my personal favorites.

This one was taken at the very end of the session and is my favorite. What you don’t see is the behind the scenes work – mainly Melissa’s mom holding up a fan and both of us cracking up when M’s hair went flying everywhere!

Kourtnie ~ Hancock Senior 2010

September 1, 2009

I’ve been looking forward to this session for months! My little sister Kourtnie (who obviously isn’t so little anymore) is a senior! And of course wanted me to do her senior pictures. Kourt happens to be one of the coolest people I know – she’s up for anything and always knows how to have a good time. So for her pictures I wanted to do something different than the usual. I wanted a more urban feel to some of them, so we headed to Hancock for some cool locations. For those of you that know the town, you may be thinking “Hancock, urban?” But that’s part of the fun of scouting for a session like this – finding those little spots that you’d never guess could be cool in a photograph. I love these – we went a little rocker with a few of them.

This one is my favorite I think. It’s tied for first with the black and white I posted first.

“There is a severe thunderstorm warning in effect…”

That’s what we heard halfway through this senior session. Sure, it’s been raining a LOT this summer, but when we started shooting the sun was out and it was a beautiful day! That was the last thing I expected to hear! But at least the first part of the session had perfect weather and got some beautiful images for K and her family!

Love the warm sunlight of the sunset on this one

More of Miss Lily

August 1, 2009

I know I was a little bit of a tease yesterday, posting only one picture. And you know how much I love to post multiple pictures! It was one of those days where there was so much to do with so little time to do it in that not everything got done. But true to my word, I’m back today with more to share!

And wouldn’t these make an adorable storyboard?

And don’t forget that the fabulous Canvas Sale goes on through Sunday! If you have been waiting to place your canvas order, now is the time! Don’t worry if you haven’t decided which picture to use, just e-mail me the size you want and we can figure out which image will work together!

monyeen: OH MY GOODNESS that third one is PRECIOUS!!!

Two sweet little boys

June 20, 2009

This session was a long time in the making! We had it scheduled a few times and had to keep rescheduling due to sickness. But finally this week we got together for some pictures of these adorable brothers and their beautiful mom!
img_1404

Aren’t they cute together? I was so impressed with A – he’s 2.5 and listened so well! (Of course a little bribing with orange pez never hurt anything either!)

img_1537

This one just warms my heart. I love it when babies talk, and you can see him trying so hard to talk to his mom in this shot.

And one of B by himself. I love those cheeks! I had bought some Aden and Anais swaddling blankets, but hadn’t had a chance to use them yet. B was a little fussy so we figured it was worth a try. We swaddled him up and he was a happy little boy! These blankets are fantastic!

It was so great meeting you and next time I’ll definitely have to make sure the girls are around to play with A! I think they would all have a blast together!

It certainly has been a whirlwind year! I’ve been so blessed to have so many absolutely amazing clients, brides and grooms that shared their wedding day with me, families that wanted to capture a special moment and lots of beautiful children that made me laugh! I put together a little slideshow of some of my favorites from 2008 – I hope you enjoy it!

Jana Kunz: They are all so beautiful!

Carley Mac: oooh this is neat :) gorgeous work

Kimmi: Gorgeous work... looks like you had a wonderful 2008.... here's to an even better 2009. :)

Karen: Kin - You put so much of yourself into your work - and these pictures show just how much you LOVE it! They're more than amazing - can't wait to see what 2009 has in store!

Happy 2nd Birthday CJ!

January 16, 2009

Our nephew just turned 2 year old! So of course I was there with my camera! Isn’t he adorable? (These were all taken with my Canon 5d MarkII, which was amazing for on location low light!)

When we first got there Colin and CJ went out for a ride in CJ’s new Jeep. They had a blast driving up and down the street!

Then the party began and the kids had a blast! Especially during the cake…

(On a side note, this was taken with only the candles to light his face – at ISO 25,600! Incredible!)

The candles were the type that relight by themselves, so the kids all got to help CJ blow them out when they relit. This shot cracks me up! See how Colin pushed his way to the front? He was pretty darn excited about that cake!

And one of my favorites from the next day – I love how vintage this feels:

Kimmi: Wow.... you rocked that 5Dii.... Love the birthday cake images..... Very nice and I love your black and whites too. :)

Jennifer: WOW I want that camera. These are great! I love the cake images too!

lauri: happy birthday cj! Great job on documenting it!
